Stripe only includes a phone number when you collect one. Turn on phone number collection in Stripe Checkout, or save a phone on your customers. Events without one are skipped and listed in your activity log.

Signed by Stripe

Every event is checked against Stripe’s signature, with a five-minute window so an old event can’t be replayed. KiwiTxt only reads the events you turn on, and can’t charge, refund or change anything in your account.

Once per event

Stripe retries deliveries. KiwiTxt remembers each event, so a customer is never texted twice for the same payment.

Proper amounts

Amounts come through in dollars and cents with the right symbol, including currencies like yen that have no cents.

FAQ

Stripe questions

Do I need to set up a webhook?

No. Install the KiwiTxt SMS app from Stripe’s App Marketplace and click Connect. There is nothing to paste, and disconnecting in Stripe stops the texts. Developers who prefer webhooks can still set one up by hand in the portal.

Which Stripe events can text?

Checkout payment received, invoice paid, invoice payment failed, card payment failed and refunds. Choose which ones are on.

Does it work with Payment Links and subscriptions?

Payment Links use Stripe Checkout, so “checkout payment received” covers them. Subscriptions bill through invoices, so the invoice events cover renewals and failed renewals.

Can someone fake a payment text?

No. Events must carry a valid Stripe signature. Anything else is refused and logged.

Where does the phone number come from?

From the Stripe event: the phone collected at checkout, or the phone on the customer for invoices. Numbers are converted to international format using the customer’s country.
